Genital Pimples Might Be An Ingrown Pubic Hair
Have you ever had a pimple down there? If so, there's no need to be
embarrassed, because it happens to be pretty common. Skin on the genitals are usually covered and
enclosed. This environment can cause quite a bit of trauma to the sensitive skin
there.
Since genitals are somewhat similar to other parts of the body that are covered in hair, it's not impossible that
you'll get an ingrown pubic hair from time to time - just like you would get on your legs or face. This is especially true if you shave or wax any of these areas.
Since this is an especially sensitive area so you need to treat it a little differently than you would treat a zit on
your face. Using a harsh acne cream could result in excruciating burning or
itching. If it turned out to be an rash instead of a pimple the reaction would be even
worse!
That's precisely why you must determine what that pimple down there really is. It's better to be safe than sorry, so double check with your doctor if you're unsure. Breakout in the genital region could be a sign of something much more serious.
Genital pimples generally come one at a time. If you have a cluster of
pimples, they might actually be an STD or some kind of infection. Syphilis is one STD that may
make itself known by causing a rash with reddish pimple-like outbreaks on it. If you have this
symptom or any other symptom of an STD, I encourage you to consult with your doctor immediately.
However, if you're 100% sure it's a pimple or ingrown hair that is not yet severely infected, you can treat it yourself
from home. Here's how:
-
Wear only comfortable, loose fitting underwear until this
pimple clears up. The more friction you have in the area, the harder you'll find it to stay
comfortable and let the ingrown hair or pimple infection out.
-
Do not pick at it or attempt to dig out the ingrown hair by
yourself.
-
Keep a warm, wet compress on the area for 10 minutes, 3 times
a day or more. Ensure that your compress is clean before using it on your sensitive
areas. The warm, wet compress will encourage the pus and/or ingrown hair to work it's way
out of the pore.
-
Keep the genital area clean and dry throughout the
day.
Following these four simple steps should eliminate your genital pimples or ingrown pubic hair. If your problem persists, you should see a dermatologist who can better help you with this
problem.
Also remember that you can avoid this problem in the future with a little extra care:
-
Like other areas of your body, you may with to exfoliate the
genital region with a gentle washcloth from time to time, to slough off dead skin that may later clog pores. Light exfoliation, especially before shaving or waxing will prevent painful ingrown pubic hairs and
genital pimples.
-
Make sure your underwear fits you properly. Too tight panties or briefs will cause a lot of excess friction that pushes short hairs back into the
skin.
-
Last but not least, dry the genital region thoroughly after
showers or baths. This is especially important after shaving or waxing. Giving the area some time to air-dry will also prevent friction on the sensitive skin down
there.
Since the skin on the genital region is exposed to a totally different environment than the rest of your skin, it may
need a little extra care and treatment. Taking care of all your skin now will make things easier
for you down the road.
